Is local H0at odds with dark energy EFT?

چکیده

Abstract Local H_0 determinations currently fall in a window between H 0 ? 70 km/s/Mpc (TRGB) and 76 (Tully-Fisher). In contrast, BAO data calibrated an early ?CDM universe are largely consistent with Planck-?CDM, 67.5 km/s/Mpc. Employing generic two parameter family of evolving equations state (EoS) for dark energy (DE) w DE ( z ) mock data, we demonstrate that if i) = 0) < -1 ii) integrated density less than ?CDM, then increases. EoS violate these conditions at best lead to modest increases within 1 ? . Tellingly, Quintessence K-essence satisfy neither condition, whereas coupled can only ii). Beyond seminal Effective Field Theories (EFTs), turn explicit examples. Working model agnostically expansion powers redshift , show Brans-Dicke/ f R Kinetic Gravity Braiding models the Horndeski class marginal respectively. We confirm as far increasing is concerned, no EFT outperform phenomenological models. Evidently, late may longer be large enough accommodate described by EFT.

Is dark energy decaying?

We explore the fate of the universe given the possibility that the density associated with ‘dark energy’ may decay slowly with time. We model decaying dark energy by a homogeneous scalar field which couples minimally to gravity and whose potential has at least one local maximum. Dark energy decays as the scalar field rolls down its potential and this allows for several interesting possibilities...

Dark energy with dark spinors

Ever since the first observations that we are living in an accelerating universe, it has been asked what dark energy is. There are various explanations all of which with have various draw backs or inconsistencies. Here we show that using a dark spinor field it is possible to have an equation of state that crosses the phantom divide, becoming a dark phantom spinor which evolves into dark energy....

Dealing with Dark Energy

Discoveries in the last few years have revolutionized our knowledge of the universe and our ideas of its ultimate fate. Measurements of the expansion of the universe show that it is not slowing down under normal gravity but accelerating due to an unknown, gravitationally repulsive “dark energy”. This may be a clue to new properties of quantum physics or of gravity beyond Einstein. I present an ...

Is dark energy an effect of averaging ?

The present standard model of cosmology states that the known particles carry only a tiny fraction of total mass and energy of the Universe. Rather, unknown dark matter and dark energy are the dominant contributions to the cosmic energy budget. We review the logic that leads to the postulated dark energy and present an alternative point of view, in which the puzzle may be solved by properly tak...

Is the evidence for dark energy secure ?

Abstract Several kinds of astronomical observations, interpreted in the framework of the standard Friedmann–Robertson–Walker cosmology, have indicated that our universe is dominated by a Cosmological Constant. The dimming of distant Type Ia supernovae suggests that the expansion rate is accelerating, as if driven by vacuum energy, and this has been indirectly substantiated through studies of an...
